Historical Background
Tharu communities have been the native residents of Kanchan village since ancient times. Since then, people have come here from the hill side, and the settlement has been expanding. After the concept of community forest was introduced, in the year 2054 B.S., after the establishment of community forest user group, people’s interest in the promotion and protection of forest increased. This community forest has contributed to rural development, educational sector development, electricity expansion, religious association and other physical constructions in a period of about two decades. Controlling forest encroachment and free movement, stopping illegal logging, and managing the forest in a long-term manner according to the established scientific method is the need of the day.
Rationale and basis of review
In the forest area, there are trees that are old, about to die, the annual growth has stopped or reduced, the reproduction growth is not expected due to the density of the canopy, and if sustainable/scientific forest management can be done in this forest area, the status of the forest will improve, the productivity will increase, the environment will improve and it will also help in carbon storage.
