Our Story

Historical Background

Tharu communities have been the  native residents of Kanchan village since ancient times. Since then, people have come here from the hill side, and the settlement has been expanding. As the forests of this densely forested area are encroaching slowly, B.S. In 2035 / 2036, more forests were felled and settlements were built. With the arrival of the multi-party system in 2046 and the political transition period, the forests here were encroached upon. In some parts of this village, it was almost like a desert and from one place, you could see a whole other village. Due to the unorganized settlement, it seems that the forest is under pressure. After the concept of community forest was introduced, in the year 2054 B.S., after the establishment of community forest user group, people’s interest in the promotion and protection of forest increased. This community forest has contributed to rural development, educational sector development, electricity expansion, religious association and other physical constructions in a period of about two decades. Controlling forest encroachment and free movement, stopping illegal logging, and managing the forest in a long-term manner according to the established scientific method is the need of the day.

Rationale and basis of review

In the forest area, there are trees that are old, about to die, the annual growth has stopped or reduced, the reproduction growth is not expected due to the density of the canopy, and if sustainable/scientific forest management can be done in this forest area, the status of the forest will improve, the productivity will increase, the environment will improve and it will also help in carbon storage. As the demand of the people and the condition of the forest will be improved, this scientific forest management action plan will be adopted in accordance with the scientific forest management procedure 2071, and this forest management action plan 2077 will be implemented for the next 10 years. and Prepared for 2077 078 to 2086 087.

446.11 hectares of forest area which has been used since ancient times for the proper protection and promotion of the forest area which has been protected by this community forest user group since time immemorial. has been 394.61 ha. The compartment containing the forest area is a mixed forest area of Asana Vajhi Karma species with 1 year maturity. In this forest area, there are old, dying trees with stunted or reduced annual growth. Therefore, if the sustainable/scientific forest management of this forest area can be managed, the status of the forest will improve, productivity will increase, the environment will improve and it will also help in carbon storage, so the demand of the people and the state of the forest will improve. Vision

  • Use only non-essential and mule roads and close other roads from inside the forest area.
  • People’s participation should be increased in the control of wildfires and poachers
  •   Programs targeting the poor, disadvantaged Dalits should be effectively implemented.
  •   Due to the emphasis on social development rather than forest development, the amount of forest development should not be matched with other expenses.
